Introducing, Healthy You, a new BDN blog

I always liked the adage, “my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.”  It considers both health and happiness.  I believe this balance holds true for improving our own health.  It’s not about perfection, it’s about being better.  That’s my motto.  Diets don’t work because once stopped, people fall back into old eating patterns.

Forming new lasting habits is like going into the dressing room and trying on many outfits to see which ones look and feel the best.  We can fall in love with the notion of eating healthy, but buying, preparing, then eating a pile of Brussels sprouts can be worse than putting on a size too small pair of jeans – awkward and uncomfortable.  It takes curiosity, open-mindedness and a bit of humor to figure out what works for each of us.

As a nurse, diabetes educator and health coach who has worked with hundreds of people and groups, I know forming lasting healthy habits requires addressing the emotional, nutritional and physical aspects of life.  I know it takes a shift in perspective, an open mind, and a willingness to look at things with new eyes in order to find what feels right and comfortable.

My blog will spotlight different areas of health, give you take away points and useful tips to help you along your healthy way.

About Barbara Groth

I’m Barbara. I have always had a passion for helping people to feel good. As a nurse my early years were focused on getting sick people back to baseline. After becoming a diabetes educator and health coach my passion became raising that bar on the baseline – helping my clients to not only feel better but to look better and have a whole new outlook on life.
